Cook Subaru Plants for a Better Tomorrow - Brad C.
Cook Subaru has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the Steamboat Springs community through their commitment to environmental stewardship. During Subaru Loves the Earth, Cook Subaru distributed nearly 100 sapling trees to local residents, encouraging hands-on participation in caring for the place we all call home. This effort reflects Cook Subaru's dedication not only to sustainability, but also to empowering the community to take part in shaping a healthier, greener future for Steamboat Springs. Planting nearly 100 trees can have a powerful scientific impact, especially in a high-altitude mountain environment like Steamboat Springs. Trees help improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide, provide natural cooling through shade, reduce soil erosion, and support our local wildlife habitats. Over time, these saplings will strengthen the town's urban forest, increase resilience against climate extremes, and enhance the natural beauty that defines Steamboat Springs. Cook Subaru's investment in this initiative will continue to benefit the community for generations, demonstrating how thoughtful action today can create lasting environmental change.
Cook Subaru Loves Helping Pets in Need - Brad C.
Cook Subaru has been an incredible partner to the Routt County Humane Society, consistently showing what it means to truly support a community. Their commitment goes far beyond words, creating a meaningful impact for animals and the people who love them. Through their involvement in the Subaru Loves Pets campaign, Cook Subaru helped strengthen our mission by ensuring pets in our care received the attention and compassion they deserve, while also raising awareness about the importance of adoption and animal welfare in our region. One of the most impactful contributions from Cook Subaru was their sponsorship of free veterinary services during Subaru Loves Pets, which made a tremendous difference in the health and well-being of animals awaiting homes. Even more inspiring, their generous donations made it possible for 25 pets to be adopted at no cost, removing financial barriers and helping these animals find loving families faster. We are deeply grateful for Cook Subaru's generosity, partnership, and genuine dedication to making a positive difference for pets and our community.
Enriched Learning at Yampa Valley High School - Brad C.
Cook Subaru has been a tremendous partner to Yampa Valley High School, demonstrating a genuine commitment to education and to the success of our students and teachers. Through the Subaru Loves Learning initiative, their generous donations directly supported five classrooms and positively impacted more than 100 students, creating opportunities that truly enhanced the learning environment. Their involvement shows a deep understanding of how strong schools help build strong communities. Because of Cook Subaru's partnership, teachers at Yampa Valley High School have been able to provide extra books, classroom supplies, and learning materials that would not have been possible otherwise. These added resources have enriched lessons, encouraged student engagement, and allowed educators to go above and beyond for their students. We are incredibly grateful for Cook Subaru's continued support and dedication to investing in education and the future of our community.
Cook Subaru Delivers Hope - Tovi E.
On June 23rd, Cook Subaru partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This partnership involved delivering blankets, patient care kits, and messages of hope to cancer patients. Through Cook Subaru’s participation in these programs, it shows they care. Cook Subaru consistently shows up and shows out for their community, and that impact was felt on the delivery day. UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center was a joy to work with, and we were so happy they were the recipients of Cook Subaru’s donation. We are so grateful to work and live in a community that takes care of one another. Thank you, Cook Subaru and thank you UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center for being firm in your mission to help others.

Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Cook Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Many Routt and Moffat County Families and Individuals in need Receive Help from Cook Subaru - Jennifer B.
Through the generosity of the Share the Love funds United Way of the Yampa Valley is able to pay for the periodic shoveling of snow for an elderly community member who lives too far for our volunteers to reach. He's very thankful to not be snowed in! We are currently working with LiftUp, Yampa Valley Community Foundation, and DHS together to get thousands of dollars in funding for a local elementary student who needs dental care. Cook Subaru's Share the Love will be vital to our portion that United Way of the Yampa Valley will be able to contribute. An individual we'll call Mike had a different story. He went through losses due to fire and divorce that left him mentally and financially drained. Through several phone calls with him, we were able to get him committed to a mental health plan and an application to Department of Human Services. Let us tell you about a mom we'll call Katie. She has stage four cancer, and this past Christmas will most likely be the last one with her family. Due to the generosity of the Subaru - Share the Love Charity Funds, we were able to research and find help so she could buy some gifts and enjoy a final holiday with her children. Thanks to Cook Subaru, they also helped us serve 700 meals at our Community Thanksgiving Dinner! THANK YOU Cook Subaru, We love you!
Cook Subaru Donates to Holiday Drive for over 20 Years! - Marci M.
Hello! My name is Marci Marumoto and I am the Sales Director for KRAI & 55 Country Radio in Craig, Colorado in NW Colorado. We are a rural town in Moffat County. Every December my stations hold a Holiday Drive which benefits 4 local non profits. The local food bank, Christmas for Kids, Christmas for Seniors and Advocates Crisis Services. This was the 26th Annual Holiday Drive and every year, Scott Cook at Cook Subaru has not only donated money to the Drive but has graciously donated 2 vehicles to the Drive to use to put donations in. He personally delivers the check every year! It is because of businesses like Cook Subaru and Scott Cook that make this drive as successful as it is! Cook Subaru has been a integral part of this community and the Holiday Drive. Thank you, Cook Subaru!
Subaru Coats Make A Difference - Kelly L.
Last winter Cook Subaru donated 60 coats to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Colorado. The BGCNWC serves over 1,000 child in the Yampa Valley each year. 70% of the children we serve are from families under AMI. The coats donated help the children in these families stay warm and dry. One such family had just moved to the Yampa Valley from a warmer climate. They did not have coats for any of their three children. Through the Subaru Loves Coats program they received a coat for all three kids. In the Yampa Valley kids are outside a lot. They go outside with school everyday. If you do not have a coat going outside is not fun. These coats will help the BGC members be able to get outside and enjoy the winter. All of us at the Club are so thankful to Subaru.
Cook Subaru Supports the Yampa River! - Andrew H.

We're very proud of our most recent effort on Butcher Knife Creek in the Strawberry Park School Campus. Cook Subaru made this possible!
Subaru Loves Pets-A Community Partnership! - Elaine H.
By hosting a free community pet vaccination and microchip clinic for the fourth straight year, Cook Subaru has exemplified why they're committed to making Routt County a better place to live and work. Through their partnership with Routt County Humane Society (RCHS) and the ASPCA, Cook Subaru has embodied the Subaru Love Promise to support what truly matters-the human-animal bond while promoting a healthy and safe community. In a rural, resort community with a higher cost of living, the costs of essential veterinary care can be overwhelming for pet owners. This was especially evident this year as the number of animals vaccinated and tested for basic diseases doubled from previous vaccination events. The partnership with Subaru allowed for the space and facilities to manage such a great turnout. Even more impactful was the story of a family that brought in three puppies for vaccines and microchips, and the father, who also needed vaccines and a heartworm test. At 4 months of age, the puppies had not received their core vaccinations that should have started at six weeks old. The mother of the litter had died in childbirth so it was even more critical that the pups be vaccinated to protect them from deadly diseases. Because of Cook Subaru, the ASPCA, and RCHS, this free clinic was a lifeline, providing the pups with vaccinations and health checks they so desperately needed to start their new lives on the right paw. And, with microchips, all of the dogs had the only form of identification that doesn't get lost, ensuring a ticket home should they ever wander off. Cook Subaru's four-year commitment to hosting these clinics with RCHS and the ASPCA demonstrates how they go beyond providing a service-they're investing in the heart of Routt County by supporting families and their pets. Through this long-standing partnership, Subaru is helping bridge the gap for pet owners in need of accessible, essential care, exemplifying the Subaru Love Promise in action. Together, they are creating a community where pets are not only loved but safe, healthy, and homeward bound!

Subaru Loves to Care- UCHealth Jan Bishop Cancer Center - Lauren S.

Cook Subaru Supports the Community - Madison P.
Throughout the years Cook Subaru has contributed to Bear River Young Life in numerous ways. Without the help of our sponsors we wouldn’t be able to accomplish all that we do. Local businesses like Cook donate and help with our big fundraising events like the Car Show, Golf Tournament, and The Banquet. Each event gathers our local community to not only share good quality fun together, but to raise money that supports our outreach. As members of Young Life our Mission? is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. We do that by going where kids are and building personal relationships with them, providing fun, adventurous, life-changing and skill-building experiences, inviting kids to personally respond to the Good News and walking in friendship with them regardless of their response, working in community alongside like-minded adults (volunteer leaders, committee members, donors and staff), and praying for young people in our community. The generosity from businesses like Cook Subaru helps support our cause and make an impact on the adolescents in our valley. -Madison Porterfield, BRYL Volunteer Leader
Cook Subaru Helps Protect Sandhill Cranes and their Habitat – Nancy M. - Nancy M.
Cook Subaru Helps Protect Sandhill Cranes and their Habitat – Nancy M. Thank you to Cook Subaru for their support of Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition (CCCC) and the annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival. CCCC presents the Yampa Valley Crane Festival every fall during the staging season- when Sandhill Cranes gather in large numbers in the Yampa Valley to feed and gain energy for their migration south. Festival events take place in Steamboat Springs, Hayden, and Craig. The festival features guided crane-viewings, bird and nature walks, expert speakers, films, crane and bird art, children and family activities focused on the environment, and more! The festival serves to educate the public about this ancient, iconic species and the threats they continue to face today. It helps to instill an appreciation of nature and the environment of Northwest Colorado. Cook Subaru’s support as a sponsor of the festival has enabled CCCC to bring in world-class speakers for this year’s festival, including the President and CEO of the International Crane Foundation and the Executive Director of the Aldo Leopold Foundation. CCCC appreciates the interest and help that Cook Subaru has extended to our organization and our festival. Their partnership is helping CCCC instill an appreciation of cranes, nature and the environment for the thousands of attendees who participate each year in the Yampa Valley Crane Festival.
A Performance Venue for the Community - Stuart H.
While Steamboat Springs, Colorado may be known for its outstanding recreational amenities, the community has never had a public performing arts facility of any kind. In 2017, several local nonprofits began woking to find a location suitable for an outdoor amphitheater. In 2021, Piknik Theatre - the only professional theatre company in Northwest Colorado - partnered with the Steamboat Springs School district to build a 200-seat outdoor venue on the campus of the local elementary school beautifully located in the Strawberry Park valley. During the school year, this facility will be used to enhance the performing arts programs at the schools and develop outdoor educational programming. In the summer months, Piknik Theatre will continue to provide a wide variety of free outdoor family entertainment. We're proud to have Cook Subaru as one of our business sponsors for the new amphitheater scheduled to open in the fall of 2023. Without Scott Cook's support, and hundreds of other private donors in the community, this would not have been possible. We're all very grateful! Sincerely, Stuart Handloff, Executive Director Piknik Theatre (www.pikniktheatre.org)
Cook Subaru helps in the fight to End Alzheimer’s Disease - Liz S.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s has been happening in the Yampa Valley since 2015 and we are very grateful for the sponsorship from Cook Motors. Their continued sponsorship has helped the Alzheimer’s Association to fund local support groups in Steamboat and to provide community education about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The Walk has also enabled major funding towards research to find a treatment and eventual cure for Alzheimer’s. Cook Subaru has shown the Yampa Valley how much it cares about the health and wellbeing of our community by continuing to fund the Walk throughout the years and we applaud and appreciate their efforts!
Learning financial literacy - Kate N.
Thank you to Cook Subaru for supporting Routt County United Way through the Subaru Share the Love® Program. This past year we launched a new initiative to help people learn and manage their finances. We introduced a Budgeting 101 class and offered it twice to full enrollment. Each student received a mentor for an additional two months. Six months after the class 60% of the class was still utilizing the zero-based budgeting method taught in the class. Our second class was Credit 101, then homebuying 101, and finally we offered an Investing 101 class. Routt County United Way has discovered a real hunger in our community for this information. We plan to offer the entire series starting Fall 2023 and into Spring 2024. Thank you, Cook Subaru for supporting programs like these in Routt County.
Cook Commitment - Luke D.
Cook Motors has been a long time supporter of Steamboat High School Athletics. 15 years ago, we started a sponsorship program at Steamboat Springs High School. The intent was to create an additional revenue stream to fund leadership training for our student athletes. When I mentioned this to Steve at Cook Motors he said "give me a day." One day later, Cook Motors agreed to be our first sponsor and the support from Cook has been continuous, and unwavering for the last 15 years. I greatly appreciate the commitment Cook has made to kids, coaches, and the athletic programs at SSHS. I'm glad to live in a community where local businesses support future generations, and I look forward to continuing to partner with people who care about this community as much as the people at Cook Motors.
Dr. E's adventure - Jake C.
Dr. E was found by a sheriffs deputy wandering around Steamboat lake with her 3 month old puppy in tow. She had clearly been a livestock guardian dog. She was shy and scared when she arrived at RCHS. We were able to track down the owner and alerted them that she and her puppy were in our care. Her stray hold went by, and her owner never came for her. her puppy was adopted very quickly, but as an adult, she wasn't viewed as desirable as her offspring. She stayed in our care until a gentleman came to ask about the vaccine clinic we were holding at Cook Subaru on October 8th. He asked to meet Dr. E and fell in love with her. Her adopter is a trail guide and Dr. E spends her time hiking around the beautiful mountains of Steamboat Springs Colorado.
Tread of Pioneers Museum supported by Cook Chevrolet and Subaru - candice b.
The Tread of Pioneers Museum collects, preserves and shares the history and heritage of Steamboat Springs and Routt County. Together, with the support of our community and businesses like Cook Chevrolet and Subaru, we can expand and enhance our services to meet the growing needs of our community, collections and visitation to our town. Cook sponsors a tree in our annual Festival of Trees fundraising event, a true community tradition. Now in its 28th year, donors like Cook support the museum through tree sponsorship of $600. This funding helps us expand preservation, education, exhibit, and programming showcasing the rich heritage of our town and county. We are ever grateful to our sponsors and supporters; without them, we could not do what we do!
Dedicated to Our Valley - Kristen O.
Whenever there is a need, the Cook team contributes. The company supports an annual workplace campaign where we receive support from both Cook and their employees. The campaign is company driven and produces incredible results. But the even bigger impact is seeing how people care, from Scott attending important community conversations, to staff volunteering on local boards and helping with non-profit events. The team at Cook exhibits the epitome of love for our valley and the people who live here. In rural communities, we rely upon one another to make a difference-Cook is dedicated to that effort.
Cook Subaru opens their doors to help community - Elaine H.
When the Routt County Humane Society (RCHS) received a $4000 grant from the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to support vaccination efforts of pets throughout northwest Colorado, Scott & Steve at Cook Subaru immediately opened their doors, literally. In October 2021, Cook Subaru welcomed RCHS and the opportunity to host a county wide free veterinary care clinic at their showroom in Steamboat Springs, CO. The location was perfect as individual offices were used as exam rooms and there was plenty of space for underserved community members to remain distanced while they waited for their pets to be examined and vaccinated. RCHS and Cook Subaru also provided refreshments for the humans which was very much appreciated! Because of this grant and the support of Scott & Steve at Cook Subaru, RCHS was able to vaccinate, microchip and test for communicable diseases in over one hundred community owned pets. The ability to provide these services at no cost means that RCHS was able to further our efforts of decreasing communicable disease among animals as well as promoting the health and safety of pets and humans in our community by ensuring all pets are vaccinated. Thank you, Scott & Steve, for everything you do for our community!
Cook Subaru supports county-wide volunteerism - Kate N.
Not all businesses reach out like Cook Subaru. Scott, Steve, and the whole Cook Subaru team believe in community. Each year Routt County United Way produces a Day of Caring for the entire Routt County's nonprofits and government entities. This past year, we supported more than 40 projects with more than 270 volunteers saving nonprofits more than $20,000 in labor costs. The day was perfect weather and volunteers learned about their nonprofit before rolling up their sleeves to do the work. Then, at noon, everyone gathered at Howelson Hill park for a lunch provided by the local Ski Town Lion's Club. Awards were given out and prizes for many of the volunteers. Talk about a feel good event! Thanks to Cook Subaru for supporting programs like this in our community.
Darrell Horton is the best! - Laura S.
Darrell Horton in the service department at Cook Subaru in Steamboat Springs is great! No matter what issue (large or small) I'm having with my (now second Outback from Cook Subaru), Darrell does a great job of figuring it out and taking care of it and me!
Did Cook Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
